The Cancer Institute (W.I.A) also known as Adyar Cancer Institute is a public charitable voluntary non-for-profit institution that is dedicated to the service of cancer patients since 1954. It is a Regional Centre for Cancer Research and Treatment and recognized as the State Cancer Institute, the apex body.
They are pioneers in cancer care from prevention to palliation, offering ethical and state-of-the -art multi-modality treatment. Our students undergo clinical experience at the Cancer Institute to gain their knowledge.

KKCTH is the leading tertiary care hospital in Chennai, exclusively catering to children’s health needs in South India. 4. Institute of Mental Health

The Government Mental Hospital, Madras, presently the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Chennai, is one of the oldest and largest in our country, nay, in South Asia, rendering psychiatric care to the mentally ill in Tamil Nadu. Its hoary past extends beyond the year 1871 when this hospital was built at the present site and the inmates were also from the neighbouring areas of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha in the days before the state's reorganization on a linguistic basis in 1957. Students undergo training and acquire their knowledge and skills.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING

Community nursing field experience is an essential component of nursing education and practice. It provides nursing students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world community settings, serving diverse populations and addressing various healthcare needs.
Nursing students play a crucial role in promoting health and preventing illness within the community. They often develop and implement health education programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives to address prevalent health issues.
Indira College of Nursing offers field experience for the students in the community through postings at rural and urban areas of Chennai & Thiruvallur Dist. The Indira College of Nursing utilizes rural health centres at Perambakkam, Kadambathur, Pattaraperumbathur and Periyakuppam PHC and one urban health centres at Thiruvallur.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship is a financial award or grant given to individuals pursuing a nursing education or furthering their nursing career. Scholarships are typically provided by various organizations, institutions, foundations, and government agencies to support and encourage students to enter and excel in the field of nursing.
Students can avail the following scholarship;

Post Matric scholarship from the central government and Government of Tamilnadu,
Subject to student fulfilling 90% attendance.

HOSTEL

The colleges offer comfortable accommodation for out-station student, with the best of amenities and excellent ambiance. There are separate hostel blocks for boys and girls, each under the care of a resident warden. Nutritious and hygienic food is provided under the supervision of trained chefs. COUNSELLING SERVICES

Nursing student counseling services are essential for providing emotional, psychological, and academic support to nursing students as they navigate the challenges of their education and training. These services aim to promote the mental health and well-being of nursing students, enhance their academic success, and prepare them for the demands of the nursing profession.
There is a counseling cell functioning within the campus to help students cope with their personal or academic problems. The counselors are professionally trained and strict confidentiality is assured.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The college has excellent sports infrastructure. There is an indoor stadium and spacious and well-maintained playgrounds, where students can engage in games such as football, volleyball, tennis, etc. We have separate gym facilities for boys and girls with the best fitness equipment.
The NSS & NCC unit are fully functional at the institution and they regularly conduct special literary camps, adult education programmes and health camps, YRC & RRC Clubs organize blood donation camps twice a year.

ADDITIONAL AMENITIES

There is a multi- specialty clinic functional within the camps, For the convenience of the students, an ATM is also operational. The campus also has a cafeteria, book store, stationery store guest house, student data centre and an internet café.
